Despite looking after myself the best I could this winter, I had a bad flu. And apparently, the most annoying about it was not eating! So when I felt like my recovery has begin and my taste buds are back again I was more then ready for a nice Friday lunch.
I have mentioned this lovely cosy place before, here. I have always had a breakfast or a cake, but I have never tried proper homemade meals there. That day’s special was goulash soup and as it tastes like home, I had to order it. There is simply something special about comforting bowl of a soup and being warmed up from the inside.
We in Czechia are used to always have soup and then main meal, when we are having lunch. I know, it can seem a little bit much, but I actually really miss that over her in the UK. There are no classic starters, we don’t share bread and olives to get ready for the main. I remember, ever since I was a little girl, we used to go to my grandparents for lunch nearly every weekend. And my grandma would cook proper meat stock. She would start early mornings before dawn and finish just on time for lunch. Can you imagine that patience, every weekend spend five or six hours cooking a soup. Not boiling, just pipping slowly. And for every soup she would made that day fresh noodles. All from scratch. When I sat down with my family to have lunch, bowl would be hot, bigger then I could hold with my little hands and oh, that lovely smell of carrots, onion and fresh parsley.
I have fallen in love wit this cosy place ever since my first visit. So if you are around and fancy a breakfast or lunch or just a piece of cake to make your day a bit sweeter I can definitely recommend On the Park. Helps that prices are reasonable and they always make you feel welcomed.
